If space was completely void apart from 2 tiny dust particles light years apart would they move together?

I know this is an impossible situation however what I am wondering is does gravity 'pull' particles together at any distance assuming no other outside influences and if so is this interaction instantaneous i.e. if the particles appeared instantaneously would the attraction of gravity be immediate or is there a lag time before the particles to experience the 'pull'
