New to Cali and need title for a car I just bought.?

I just moved to Cali. And I haven't got mail yet so I have to wait to get my license. I bought a car from a guy and he didnt have the title. He said his friend owed him money so he gave him this car. When I bought it from him he had paper work for a duplicate title in his friends name. What will I have to do to get the title in my name? The car has been wrecked so I'm sure it's a salvage title.
