Is the economy expanding now? Or are we still in a recession?

I'm tired of hearing about the unemployment rate, and people losing their homes, and the government not doing anything, and blah blah. I remember the good old days back in 2004-2005 when the economy was doing well. I hope the economy is well in 4 years when I graduate.
